Shaw, Mason and Pettis Named Players of the Week by ArenaFan Online

For their performances during the second week of the Arena Football League 2006 season, Terrill Shaw (OS, Dallas Desperados), Damon Mason (DS, Austin Wranglers) and Will Pettis (WR/DB , Dallas Desperados) have been named Offensive Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week, and Two-Way Player of the Week, respectively, by the writers and staff of ArenaFan Online.

Offensive Player of the Week: Terrill Shaw led all receivers with 208 and four touchdowns on 11 receptions for the Dallas Desperados in a 56-53 victory against the Utah Blaze. His final 3-yard touchdown reception put the game out of reach. Shaw also added a score on the ground, running the ball in from three yards out late in the second quarter. In all, Shaw had 211 combined yards and five touchdowns.

Other players considered for the ArenaFan Online Week Two Offensive Player of the Week were Clint Dolezel (Dallas), Damian Harrell (Colorado), Marcus Nash (Las Vegas), and Matt Sauk (Philadelphia).

Defensive Player of the Week: Damon Mason picked off Arizona quarterback Dennis Gile three times to help lead the Austin Wranglers to a 53-34 win over the Rattlers. Mason had 59 yards on interception returns, also recording four tackles and three pass breakups. He now has five interceptions in just two games. Mason is the all-time AFL leader in total tackles and has earned second team All-Arena honors three times.

Other players considered for the ArenaFan Online Week One Defensive Player of the Week were Josh Bush (Grand Rapids), Ernest Certain (Tampa Bay), Jermaine Mays (Orlando), Monty Montgomery (Nashville), Will Pettis (Dallas), Clevan Thomas (San Jose).

Two-Way Player of the Week: Will Pettis caught four passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns on offense, 4.5 total tackles on defense, and 86 return yards on five kickoffs to help the Dallas Desperados beat the Utah Blaze. Pettis is in his fourth year with Dallas. He was named to the All-Rookie team in 2003 and has been named second-team All-Arena three times.

Other players considered for the ArenaFan Online Week One Two-Way Player of the Week were Josh Bush (Grand Rapids), Kevin Ingram (Los Angeles), James Jordan (Kansas City), Dane Krager (Austin), Robert McMillen (Chicago), and Lawrence Samuels (Tampa Bay).
