Destroyers Positively Fall to the Soul

It might be easier on the Columbus fans to look at the positives than face all that went wrong, so we’ll start there. Cornelius White had another outstanding game with 8 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown as well as two tackles on defense. Also on the bright side, the Destroyers returned safely to Columbus Sunday afternoon without any delays or incidents.
That’s pretty much it on the positives. The negatives will take a dissertation.
In a developing trend, the Destroyers allowed their opponent to score first for the third consecutive time this season. While Columbus was able to battle back and take a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, it was the last time they would lead for the rest of the game. They went through a 30-minute scoreless drought fueled by mistakes, turnovers, and penalties between the end of the second quarter and their first score of the fourth quarter. While the opportunities were readily available for Columbus to get back in the game, they could not capitalize or hold things together long enough to sustain a drive or score some points to do so.
While focusing on the mistakes and miscues of the Destroyers, it must be noted that Soul played a complete football game for the first time this season. After losing on the last play of the game against the Desperados last week and playing solid football opening night, the Soul was able to put it all together and play like a veteran team instead of the expansion team they are.
So where do we go from here? Things can get better or things can get a lot worse. The answer will only come as the season plays itself out. For now, all’s they can do is go back to work, put in their time, and believe in what their individual talents and abilities can achieve and accomplish when they collectively come together as one. There are positives in every negative; even when they are hard to find. Let’s hope the Destroyers find a lot of positives this week as they will be hosting the Dallas Desperados Sunday at home on national television.
