Whitehall Township native Matt Millen to coach Wounded Warriors Amputee Football team

Will Face the Ron Jaworski coached NFL Alumni & Local Celebrity Team
PHILADELPHIA- Each year, the Philadelphia Soul (10-3) host a Wounded Warrior Amputee vs. NFL Alumni and local celebrity flag football game in correlation with the team’s Military Appreciation Night. This year, the Soul will bring this special event to Allentown, PA and Whitehall Township Matt Millen is set to support the cause. The game will be played immediately following the Soul’s game vs. the Cleveland Gladiators (7-6) at 6 p.m. at the PPL Center.
After a standout high school football career with Whitehall High School, Millen went on to become an All-American defensive tackle at Penn State and then to a 12-year NFL Career winning four Super Bowls. He is currently a successful NFL analyst with FOX.
“This is going to be a tremendous night,” said Ron Jaworski. “First, the Soul will provide an incredible entertainment experience for those in attendance. Then, you will not leave the PPL Center with a dry eye after watching these heroes playing football with their prosthetic devices. It drives home that you can do anything you can put your mind to.”
More than a dozen local NFL stars will join Jaworski and Millen including: Phil Stambaugh, Joe Wolf, Matt Kranchick, Tom Donchez, John Spagnola, Matt Lytle, Brian Henesey and Mike Lush. Local celebrities include: Steelhawks head coach Chris Thompson, local media stars Matt Markus, Sam Malone & Bob Holder as swell as congressman Charlie Dent. Allentown Police Chief Keith Morris and his Allentown PD Officers will help provide “back-up” for this NFL Alumni and Lehigh Valley celebrity roster.
The Wounded Warrior Amputee Football Team’s (WWAFT) mission is to raise awareness and support for our wounded warriors and their families. The team is made of up service members who have served and are now using a prosthetic device to engage in everyday life activities. By showcasing our team on the football field, the WWAFT seeks to inspire our fans and highlight the perseverance of our service members (both active and former) who continue to face life’s challenges without excuses
Tickets for the Soul game, which include access to the Wounded Warrior Amputee Football Team vs. NFL Alumni and Local Celebrities, are on sale now at pplcenter.com. All NFL Alumni, local celebrities and Soul players and coaches will be available for autograph after the game.
