THE GAME
The Pittsburgh Power (3-6) hit the road this Saturday, June 1, for an American Conference matchup against the South-Division leading Jacksonville Sharks (7-3). Kickoff is at 7:00 pm EDT from Jacksonville’s Veterans Memorial Arena.
The Power are surging after winning their first home win of the season last week against the Cleveland Gladiators, 55-44.
The Sharks ended a 3-game losing streak last week, defeating the Orlando Predators, 44-41, on the road.
The Power and the Sharks have met once already this season during AFL Week 2. Jacksonville beat Pittsburgh 61-35 at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
POWER TO WATCH | OFFENSE
Passing: Earning the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game last week, Power quarterback Steven Sheffield leads Pittsburgh with 834 yards and 19 passing touchdowns in 3 games. Sheffield has also added 2 rushing touchdowns to his stats.
Receiving: Veteran Power wide receiver Mike Washington leads all Pittsburgh receivers with 79 catches for 842 yards and 15 touchdowns. Washington has also rushed for 2 touchdowns and has a team high 102 points. In last Saturday’s comeback win over Cleveland, Washington scored his 500th career point as a member of the Power with his third touchdown grab of the game. Wide receivers Kenny Stafford and Julian Talley look to build on their outstanding debut performances last week against Cleveland. In the victory against Cleveland, Stafford earned the Cutters Catch of the Game honor and brought in 6 catches for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns. Talley also chipped in 6 receptions for 99 yards and 1 touchdown.
SHARKS TO WATCH | OFFENSE
Passing: Heading the Shark’s offense is 3-year AFL veteran and former Power quarterback Bernard Morris, who has completed 66.7% of his passes for 2,000 yards and 43 touchdowns. Morris also has 7 rushing touchdowns for Jacksonville this season and is 3rd in the League in rushing yards with 215.
Receiving: Wide receivers Jaron Harvey has caught 80 passes for 781 yards and 20 touchdowns for a team high of 120 points. Jeff Hughley has added 66 catches for 736 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also recorded 3 rushing touchdowns this season.

Defense: Power defensive back Sergio Gilliam and jack linebacker Alvin Ray Jackson lead Pittsburgh’s defensive efforts. Gilliam has a team high 48 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 11 pass breakups. Earning Week 9 AFL Cutters Catch of the Game honors, Jackson has recorded 43.5 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 1 interception.

Defense: Jacksonville features the two AFL sack leaders, defensive lineman Jerry Turner (8 sacks for 43 yards) and Mac linebacker Aaron Robbins (7.5 sacks for 33 yards). Defensive back Tracy Belton has recorded a team high 51 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 13 pass breakups. Defensive back Tracey Smith has chipped in 46.5 tackles and a team high 5 interceptions.

Kick Returns: Defensive back Chris LeFlore has returned 20 kickoffs for 580 yards and 1 touchdown. LeFlore’s 56-yard return for a touchdown in the 4th quarter earned him the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Game honor in Power’s Week 10 victory over the Gladiators.

Kick Returns: Leading the Sharks on special teams is wide receiver Jeff Hughley who has returned 44 kicks for 817 yards.
