DB Returns to Arizona for 2013 Season

Mesa, AZ - The 2012 Arena Bowl Champions have brought back a cornerstone of their defense today in defensive back Marquis Floyd. Marquis has been an AFL player for five seasons and has made four trips to the Arena Bowl winning two championships, one with Arizona and one with San Jose.

The Rattlers are excited about bringing back Floyd a two time all arena player and a former AFL2 Ironman of the year. Marquis has amassed 33 interceptions in his five seasons with 64 pass breakups, 13 forced fumbles and over 300 tackles.

"Marquis is one of our big pieces of the puzzle that has helped get this organization turned around," said head coach Kevin Guy. "This will be my seventh season with Marquis; he has a physical presence in the secondary with very good ball skills and has proven he is a durable player. He is a guy that also has a great personality for keeping things loose in the locker room."

Floyd attended the University of West Georgia, where he was a three-time American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American. He led the Braves in INT's in each of his last three seasons and holds the school record for career INT's with 19. Floyd was his team's MVP in his senior season. In high school Floyd was a four sport athlete at Monroe Area High School in Monroe, GA. Floyd played football, basketball, track and baseball, earning basketball MVP honors as a junior and senior.
