Gladiators suffer first home loss of 2012
CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Gladiators came up short versus Jacksonville, with a 54-49 loss to the Sharks in front of 7,104 fans at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night. For the Gladiators, it was the first loss at home in 2012.
The Gladiators fall to 3-3 while the Sharks improve to 2-3.
John Dutton had one final chance to score with 0:02 left, but his pass missed Dominick Goodman as the final horn sounded. Dutton completed 30-of-47 passes for 340 yards and six touchdowns. He was not intercepted in the game. His first touchdown pass in the first quarter was the 700th of his career – making him just the sixth player to reach that milestone.
Dominick Goodman led all receivers with a season-high 17 receptions and 189 yards. He scored three times. His 17 receptions tied the franchise record, and was the third time it has been accomplished. Robert Redd and Thyron Lewis each added receiving touchdowns.
For the Sharks, Omar Jacobs finished the night 20-of-33 for 300 yards and six scores. Jeron Harvey and Bobby Sewall each caught two touchdowns, while Terrance Smith and Shamar Graves each added one.
The Gladiators travel to Pittsburgh next weekend for an East Division matchup with the Power at CONSOL Energy Center on Saturday night.
