QB MATT GUTIERREZ brings solid professional background to Arizona

MESA, Ariz. - The Arizona Rattlers announce the signing of QB MATT GUTIERREZ.

Gutierrez spent time on the active rosters of the New England Patriots (2007-2008) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2009). He participated in the training camps and practice squads of the Chicago Bears (2010, 2011) and the Washington Redskins (2011).

During the 2008 Patriots preseason, Gutierrez completed 29-of-45 passes for 362 passing yards, throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions.

"I know that there is a lot of rich history in this program," said Gutierrez. "I am excited about the opportunity to play football."

Gutierrez transferred to Idaho State University for the 2006 season after three years at the University of Michigan (2003-05). The signal caller was named the starter at Michigan for the 2004 season opener, but suffered a shoulder injury, and did not throw a pass that season. He finished his career at Michigan completing 27-of-41 passes, for 286 yards and a touchdown. In 2006, Gutierrez was named Idaho State's Outstanding Newcomer after throwing for 2,237 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Gutierrez prepped at the football perennial power, De La Salle High School. Over his four high school seasons from 1999-2002, his teams went 50-0 and claimed the high school national championship each season. Gutierrez threw for 5,032 yards and 64 touchdowns, with just nine interceptions during his high school tenure at quarterback. About the
