Make Roster Adjustments in Preparation for San Jose
SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Blaze are pleased to announce signings of K Andrew Aguila (5-11, 190, Central Michigan), WR Chris Bocage (5-10, 190, USC), WR Justin Ore (6-2, 195, Western Oregon) and WR/DB Ralph Turner (5-9, 185, South Alabama) in anticipation for their match-up against the division-foe San Jose SaberCats on Saturday, May 21st at 7 p.m. (MT) at EnergySolutions Arena.
Aguila earned the starting kicking position after two days of tryouts with former Boise State K Kyle Brotzman. At Central Michigan University, Aguila was named a 2008 All-Mid American Conference selection. The highlight of his collegiate career came versus Michigan State during his senior year where he kicked an onside kick that was recovered. He then made the game-winning field goal in a matter of minutes .During his senior season, Aguila kicked 17 field goals and added 55 extra points for a total of 106. In his career at Central Michigan, he made 159 extra points and 42 field goals for a total of 285 career points.
Bocage joins the Blaze after playing with the Albany Conquest and Tennessee Valley Vipers of the af2. With the Conquest in 2008, he played in 10 games where he notched 68 receptions for 827 yards and 14 touchdowns. He rushed nine times for a gain of 43 yards and two touchdowns. On special teams, Bocage returned 42 kicks for 926 yards and two touchdowns. Bocage attended USC where he was a part of two National Championship teams (2003, 2004). While at USC, he was awarded the Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year award in 2004.
Ore attended Western Oregon University where he was a first-team all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection as a senior and second-team all-Great Northwest selection as a junior. During his final season, Ore led the team in touchdown receptions with eight, and also had 31 receptions for a total of 571 yards. As a junior, he recorded 27 receptions for a total of 513 yards and three touchdowns.
Turner played his final two seasons at South Alabama after transferring from Southern Mississippi. As a junior, he played in six of seven games. In his first start, he caught two passes for 45 yards and rushed three times for another 53 yards. He led the team with 163 yards in kickoff returns. Turner ranked fourth on the squad with 295 all-purpose yards after running the opening kickoff back 85 yards for a touchdown to start the second half.
WR Aaron Boone (6-3, 210, Kentucky) and WR Aaron Lesue (5-11, 190 Utah State) were placed on the Injured Reserve List while WR Eddie Jackson (6-4, 220, West Virginia) was placed on re-assignment.
