Empire`s Jones Wins Offensive Player of the Year

Earns Second Consecutive Offensive Honor
Philadelphia, Pa. (August 9, 2019) – The Arena Football League today announced Malachi Jones, WR of the Albany Empire, earned the Offensive Player of the Year Award.
Jones was instrumental to Albany’s top-ranked offense this season, which is seen as he led the League in numerous receiving categories. He led the League with 96 catches, 1440 receiving yards and 120 yards per game. He had 179 receiving yards against the Columbus Destroyers on May 18, which ranked fifth- most in a single game this season. Additionally, he ranked second in total receiving touchdowns (25).
The WR was extremely consistent as he recorded nine games with 100 or more receiving yards, which is also good for a League best. His 1440 receiving yards are the most by an individual player in a season since 2016.
Jones was the only player in the League this season with 1000 or more total receiving yards,
Following a successful 2019 season, Jones also earned First Team All-Arena honors (WR). Additionally, he was named Receiver of the Year.
