Shock Grind Out Win Against Voodoo

After a confusing and alarming three game losing streak, the Spokane Shock got their act together and won their first game in a month. They dropped the New Orleans Voodoo by a score of 65-54 in Spokane. Mistakes were made on both sides throughout the contest, but Spokane managed make the most of their opponent’s missed opportunities to come out with a win.

The Spokane Shock (6-3) broke their three game losing streak with a 65-54 win over the New Orleans VooDoo (1-7) in front of a crowd of 9,317, at Spokane Arena.

Reeling from three straight defeats and being tied in knots by a one-win team for the second week in a row, the Shock rallied from behind with two big defensive plays in the fourth quarter – one an interception return for a touchdown by Terrance Sanders – to outlast the New Orleans VooDoo 65-54.

The return of Kurt Rocco sparked an anemic New Orleans VooDoo offense Friday night. Unfortunately, a season-long epidemic was too much for Rocco and the VooDoo to overcome.

Well, that was apparently an awful time to debut the rankings. Week 8 featured the most upsets of any week, with several heretofore poor teams upsetting teams that had recently looked like contenders. After this week’s games, there’s some huge movement in the top half of the rankings. We’ll try this again this week, hoping for some better results.

Week 8 was one of the most bizarre weeks we've seen in a while in the AFL. Aaron Garcia threw for 11 touchdowns for Orlando in an 83-82 win over Spokane and TT Tolliver had an eye-popping game. San Antonio and Jacksonville combined for 64 total points...in a whole game. Cleveland upset Chicago, Pittsburgh upset Philadelphia and Iowa limited New Orleans to all of 16 points.

Week 7 Arena Football League action saw the Jacksonville Sharks (6-1) suffer their first loss of the season at the hands of the visiting Arizona Rattlers (6-1), 58-48. The road victory was the third straight win for the Rattlers, and could propel Arizona to an extended winning streak.
