Washington Valor Opening Night Produces Exciting Win over Baltimore Brigade
Afro American

As franchise debuts for both teams, the Washington Valor and Baltimore Brigade met in Washington, D.C., on Friday night, April 9, at the Verizon Center in front of a raucous Opening Night crowd of a reported 15,579 fans.

Jon Stark,

It's officially official. Week 1 is in the books. While I only got a chance to catch some of the Cleveland/Tampa Bay game, I was at the Washington Valor home opener. Verizon Center was buzzing, with the energy in the air, it felt like this was a playoff game and Arena Football had been a staple in D.C. for the last fifteen years.

Last fall, Erik Meyer wondered if he would ever play professional football again. He had once been an Arena Football League journeyman, but as the league sputtered last year, so did Meyer’s career prospects. The 34-year-old quarterback returned to California and coached football at a high school, keeping himself in shape just in case he ever got another call to play.

Washington Valor: A Look Ahead
Jon Stark,

Spring is here and that means so is Arena Football. If you haven't heard by now D.C. has a new team. If you're a Washington Redskins fan, that means you can finally get your football fix before September. In their inaugural season, the Washington Valor hit the field this Friday April 7th against another new expansion team, the Baltimore Brigade.
