Capozzoli Kicks Sharks Into Conference ChampionshipJacksonville Sharks Press Release With his team down by one point and six seconds remaining, Marco Capozzoli drilled a 51-yard field goal as time expired to give the Jacksonville Sharks a 58-56 victory over the Georgia Force in the American Conference Semifinals.
Capozzoli's 51-Yarder Boots Sharks Into American Conference FinalAdam Markowitz, ArenaFan.comThe Jacksonville Sharks might not have QB Aaron Garcia an longer, but they are doing something that Garcia isn't this year: Playing in a conference championship game. It certainly was a tale of two games though, as the Sharks nearly blew the biggest lead in a playoff game in AFL history against the Georgia Force, who should be commended for erasing a 48-21 deficit in the second half. Still, in the end, a 51-yard field goal by K Marco Capozzoli proved to be the difference in a 58-56 triumph.
The Force to open postseason in Jacksonville against the AFL defending champion SharksMike Delrio, ArenaFan.comThe Georgia Force will be on the road to take their next step on the way to ArenaBowl XXV when they square off with the defending Arena Football League champion Jacksonville Sharks on Saturday, July 28th in the opening round of the playoffs.
Without Garcia, Sharks Look To Continue Dominance Of Southern DivisionAdam Markowitz, ArenaFan.comTo say that the Jacksonville Sharks have had their way with the rest of the Southern Division is a bit of an understatement. In their brief history, they have won a whopping 36 regular season games and three straight division titles, and they are now the first team in the history of the league to win three division crowns in a row to begin a franchise. Jacksonville went 12-2 in its first two regular seasons in the Southern Division, and it had a 2-1 mark against those foes in the playoffs as well. QB Aaron Garcia led the way in all of those victories though, and for the first time ever, the Sharks will have to go into battle in a playoff tilt with someone aside from #8 calling the shots. Jacksonville will hope to do some more damage to the South on Saturday night when it hosts the Georgia Force in the American Conference Semifinals.
