There has been some back and forth on how "appropriate" the discussion is on other leagues. Here is our take:

1. During the offseason, there is just less AFL news overall. So, some discussion about the other leagues on the main board here is fine. Especially since there are ex-AFL teams and markets involved in these leagues (Arizona, Jacksonville, Spokane, Iowa, etc). Especially where it potentially ties into the AFL, it is fine.

2. We also let some "other league" talk go by even during the regular season this year, because the league was down to 5 teams. We shall see what happens in 2018.... if the league is back up to 8-9 teams though, we'll probably try to keep focus more on the AFL then and lessen the "other league" chatter.

Fair minded and civil discussion is always appreciated. Some occasional banter is ok.... but we'll step in if things are going over the line into overtly personal attacks, or plainly ridiculous posting (especially of a repeated nature).

Is it also acceptable to discuss potential conflicts between the AFL and non-AFL leagues, regarding local sports market(s)? (e.g., Orlando, NJ, NY, possibly Texas or Virginia)

As I said anything that ties into the AFL is obviously fair game

Honestly, the only reason I visit this forum is to read the latest news and speculation involving the various leagues and their franchises.

So if someone has a stick up their rectal orifice about there being posts here about IFL, CIF, NAL, or EIEIO, they should probably get over it, especially during an off-season in which the AFL's not only not announced expansion, but in which its very survival is in question.

How about starting an "other leagues" section of the message board?

We have an "off-topic" discussion board.... we also have individual team boards.

More or less though, everyone pretty much comes here to the "main" forum, so, the other forums get very little traffic.

As part of an eventual redesign for mobile, I'd also like to change the message board to one that doesn't use "sections"... all the messages are on the same "board", just with "tags" for specific types of discussions (team specific tags, expansion, other leagues, etc). Then, you can just block "other leagues" in your "board feed" if you don't want that, etc.

Good luck with that.

Does this mean that Arena fan is getting an app?

If we did an "app" it would be more or less just presenting a mobile version of the website.

What happens with expansion this offseason will probably factor in greatly to what we put into the site going into 2018.

That makes a lot of sense.
