Pittsburgh would be known as the Gladiators from 1987 until 1990 and would appear in two Arena Bowls (Arena Bowl I, where Denver won, 45-16, and Arena Bowl III, where Detroit won, 39-26).
Pittsburgh would relocate to St. Petersburg, Florida, where they would be renamed the Tampa Bay Storm. The Storm would win three Arena Bowl titles (1991, 1993, 1995) and relocate to Tampa for the 1996 season. Tampa Bay would win two more Arena Bowl titles (1996, 2003). Tampa Bay has won five Arena Bowl titles in seven appearances (they were 0-2 as Pittsburgh).
When Orlando suspended operations, Tampa Bay would be the longest reigning Arena Football League franchise (1987-90 as the Pittsburgh Gladiators; 1991-2008, 2010-present as the Tampa Bay Storm). _________________ LEONARD WEIRICH
