Just for fun, of all the teams that have folded in the AFL over the years, what teams would you most like to see make a comeback?
1. LA Avengers: Really miss the rivalry the Sabercats and Avengers had. I even had the oppertunity to make it to LA a few times the Cats played them throughout the years. Great fans.
2. Columbus Destroyers: The Destroyers had very good good attendance over the years of its existence. Even during the teams bad years , I beleive they averaged over 17K. |

| From the perspective of a market that was good for the league, I'd like to see the Rampage back. The smaller markets (with less competition) were loyal. That said, Huntsville probably should never have had a franchise. |

The title of this thread was which AFL teams would you like to see make a come back, the Louisville Fire was never part of the AFL, the franchise was only an af2 franchise, although there was some talk of them moving to the AFL prior to them folding as an af2 squad after the 2008 season. |

| I only want to see teams brought back that are guaranteed to draw at least 7,000 per game on average. Furthermore, I do not want to see any expansion into any new or additional rebirth markets until the current eyesores of Georgia, Kansas City, and Milwaukee are dealt with by the league, three franchises that are currently incapable of averaging 7,000 per game. Move the problem franchises to new markets where they can have a chance to thrive before any more expansion. Clean up your existing problems before creating any new ones! |

Do not forget to add Bossier City/Shreveport to the list of ill advised AFL franchise locations. And there is no "probably" to the discussion about Huntsville, the market is and will always be nothing more than an af2 market, this was simply the league and the owners in these two markets treating Huntsville and Shreveport like a good one night (season) stands, used and abused, and now both markets are garbage for any league that follows. Had the auction/purchase of the AFL by Gridiron/af2 owners been completed sooner than Decemeber of 2009, there would have been no Huntsville or Shreveport as both markets would have been relocated to Georgia and New Orleans respectively. What the AFL did to these two franchises is nothing more than "Pimp My Franchise", it was utterly ridiculous!
Additionally, the Alabama Vipers averaged 4,696 per home game for the 2010 season (9 games). The Georgia Force have averaged 4,761 per home game across the 2011-2012 seasons (11 games), a net gain of 65 fans per game on average, I would have to ask the powers in the ivory tower, how is this move working for the league?
Fans here still refer to the team as the Tennessee Valley Vipers, the af2 name and not the Alabama Vipers, the AFL name that was shoved down our throats, we knew it was a farce from day one! |

The only good thing that came out of the "Alabama Vipers" was a cooler logo and some pretty sweet digs. Loved the uniforms that season.
I wish the PIFL luck, though. They have the right idea. _________________ Alabama Steeldogs - Most disappointing team in af2 history.

I would like to see a team in Albany. They had great success there i think, and the Colorado Crush, Dallas Desperados, from a cool uniform perspective... Carolina Cobras! hahaha! _________________ I am always looking for Arena football and AF2 pocket schedules. If you have extras send me an e-mail and let me know! Thanks all! |

No argument on the uniforms/logo, they were the best uniforms that the Vipers ever had, I actually suggested the final change to the uniforms for the 2010 season, they just did not pop with solid white numerals, green numerals outlined in white made a huge difference. The final uniforms were modeled after the Tennessee Titans jersey.
The PIFL should be fine, when they get it where they want, it likely will be what the af2 should have been all along, good competitive football played and scheduled on a regional basis. I could argue that the PIFL would make the most sense to become the 2.0 version of the af2. |

| Ditto! My first ever AFL game was in St. Louis. The Blues at Scott Trade would obviously be the number one franchise and playoff season would have some effect. Also, the Cardinal's can cramp up the train system and parking, but St. Louis is a great, blue collar sports town that will support a team of ownership keeps prices realistic and puts on a quality show (read, lovable losers ok). |

I really think the league needs to bring back The Drive and The Dynamite. It would be nice to see some of the original teams return. Of course with new unis _________________ Stephen Canto |

Since this is on the topic of bringing back teams, I guess the Toronto Phantoms would be on this list. Mostly because I'd like to see a Canadian franchise in the league. However, I really doubt Toronto would work.
As far as former AFL cities I'd like to see back are Los Angeles and Detroit. Both of those cities seemed to do well at the box office. However, I fear the "new" AFL has caused it to drop a few notches in the realm of sports. Thus, I wonder whether the Los Angeles franchise would become akin to the D-League's DFenders where they play in a gym that has mostly folding chairs for seats and is a total capacity of 300 or so. I could see it working in Ontario, the Wolves seem to draw well and the ECHL's Reign seems to work.
Detroit on the other hand seems to be a good market for the AFL. The economy of Detroit is suffering and the AFL would be a good fit because of this. Strange theory right? But I figure that a good number of sports fans in Detroit cannot afford the four major leagues and could afford minor league sports. So long as the Detroit franchise set ticket prices decently enough that they aren't akin to mid-range NHL or NBA tickets, I think the franchise would do very well. However, for this to work out I think the team would have to play at Joe Louis Arena. Playing out at the Palace would likely cause the same fans I figure would be a good target audience to not drive out to Auburn Hills. |

Why does everyone say Detroit? That time has passed. The city is a dump. No one lives there anymoe and if they do they want to leave. NO one is going to drive down to $hitty Detroit to watch the this version in The dump they call the Joe. The place is a dump. Further more the fury left Detroit because of ticket sales. So you expect to do better numbers at a crappy arena? FYI anyone with cash for sporting events live inthe burbs any way. I live in gr and I will go to Chicago for a sporting event rather then Detroit. Why? Because Detroit is the armpit of Michigan now. Bring back the rampage where people have jobs and money to afford the games. Gr is the only place in the state with growth and steady employment to support it. And the teams get the support here. Most drive fans left the Detroit area Years ago when crack took over. Detroit is dead. Sorry. _________________ Gr and San Jose had the right idea. |
