This is news to me.
http://www.youtube.com/user/dletter2
I've got a number of 3-4 minutes clips from an OLD OLD VHS tape I have of "Football Bloopers", which was basically 20 minutes of old college games, and 20 minutes of 1991 AFL game "highlights" (barely those, the plays are not that good, I just put it up there for the kitchy old school AFL factor).
But, better enjoy them while you can, as one has already been pulled off, and I got this email:
Dear Member:
This is to notify you that we have removed or disabled access to the following material as a result of a third-party notification by National Football League claiming that this material is infringing:
AFL Classic Highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vx3HMQLh6E
Please Note: Repeat incidents of copyright infringement will result in the deletion of your account and all videos uploaded to that account. In order to prevent this from happening, please delete any videos to which you do not own the rights, and refrain from uploading additional videos that infringe on the copyrights of others. For more information about YouTube's copyright policy, please read the Copyright Tips guide.
One, search for "NFL" and tell me how many FOX, ESPN, etc NFL game clips you can find on YouTube. So, seriously, the NFL is worried about 17 year old clips of AFL games from SportsChannel america with bad music playing over them, more than people upload Devin Hester highlight reels and the like?
I don't even care enough to fight it, I just think something smells fishy here. |

Are you sure Dave that it isn't "American Football League" AFL that they are referring to? _________________

All you have to do is watch the video and it is pretty apparent that isn't the case.
Plus, as I said, their "infringment finder" must be pretty lame if they find that and they aren't looking up NFL player names to find clips.
In anycase, I did change all references to "AFL" to be "Arena Football" in the videos that haven't been pulled, so, if it was that, I've fixed the rest. |

I would have inquired further in response to their stupidity. Since they got bought out and started doing this crap I have been demanding to know why they care if they have no intention of selling the material. _________________ WB Scranton Pioneers: 16-3 2009 American Conference Champs

The National Football League doesn't own the copyright to the video you posted. Therefore, it's an illegal takedown notice and I believe there is a financial penalty for that. Feel free to take the NFL to court. _________________

Unfortunately, I think the NFL would find a way to win the case. |

when you click on the linkage to youtube in the
first post of this here thread, a little red banner
stripe near the top of the screen says
This video is no longer available due to a copyright
claim by National Football League
I wonder if they meant NIFL ? _________________ Go Grand Rapids RAMPAGE !

I think that is what they think. If you search "AFL" you don't get any football footage at all. So it seems that someone over their is either to lazy or just to dumb to figure it out. _________________ "I didn't understand the rule." said JBJ
