Just a warning to everyone who was expecting to watch Chicago at Colorado on ESPN2 at 10:00 pm ET. Looks like we will have a joined in progress type of deal. Why? because the first game of the day in the College World Series (Cal State Fullerton vs UC Irvine) is now 5 hrs old (started at 2:00 pm ET) and has entered the 12th inning. Even if the game ends in the 12th (say in the next 15-20 mins) you can add another 50 mins until the second game of the day starts - (Arizona State vs Oregon State) Then that game will last around three hours and it won't be until well after 11:00 pm ET when they finally switch to AFL.
Maybe they will be nice and when 10:00 pm ET hits - they will switch viewers on ESPN2 to the AFL and put the rest of the baseball game on ESPNU. Or mention that once the baseball ends on ESPN2, we will go to the AFL game but not in progress but at the start and we will then get the whole game.
Doubt either will happen but we can at least hope one of those do!
Update - 7:20 pm ET: We are heading to the 13th inning!
This game has set the record for the longest CWS game.
Update #2 - 7:50 pm ET: UC IRVINE ANTEATERS WIN!!! 5-4!
5 hrs and 40 mins - next game will start around 8:40 pm ET.

| When the baseball game is over will ESPN2 start the game from the beginning or just go the game in progress? |

Probably in progress. ESPN tends to want to show games LIVE rather than in their entirety.

| I got tired of waiting and fell asleep. I enjoy baseball, especially with a playoff atmosphere, but I was in the mood for Monday Night AFL. |

I too was disgusted with ESPN2's election to forego professional football for college baseball?! I live in Georgia and no offense but unless someone in my area happen to go to Arizona St or Oregon St why would we give a crap about the game? I realize some people want to give national coverage to the college teams earning championship spots but unless they were broadcasting coverage for the entire season building to the series then no one has a clue what they are watching or why.
On the other hand there have been a slew of broadcast AFL games building to last night's matchup between Colorado and Chicago with playoff implications included in the outcome. So ESPN decides to go with baseball, bad call... :(
Aside, it is cool there's an opion for ESPN360 but limited to people with decent high speed internet. I however didn't want to risk violating my FAP and settled for live stats on afl.com.
Regardless, I won my Arenabowl (Tim Marcum league) and am truly happy with my FF season. Also my hometown Georgia Force are still playing strong with a good look going into the playoffs. GO FORCE!

I settled back, ready to watch my first complete game in more than a month. And ESPN shows as clearly as they know how just what the AFL means to them. College baseball?
Stick a fork in it, this league is done. |

I love how when one slip-up takes place, you all think it's the end of the world.
Because the NFL was done after the Heidi Game right? |

Um...how about the fact that ESPN has had a CONTRACT with the NCAA to show the College World Series for well over 15 years. Do you think that had anything to do with it? |

Don't mind that post, dispatch hasn't had anything positive to say about the AFL in the years I've been on this site.
I think people criticizing ESPN on this one are holding them to a double standard. What did you want them to do? Cut off the baseball game and switch to the AFL game on time? Imagine what you would think if an AFL playoff game went into overtime, but ESPN cut that off to start coverage of whatever game was coming on next. I'm no ESPN fan when it comes to their coverage of the AFL, but they got this one right. Not only did they cover each game (baseball and football) in their entirety, they were thoughtful enough to remove the AFL score from their ticker so you couldn't accidentally find out the score of the game before actually watching it.
The only thing they should have done differently would have been to make it more clear to people during the baseball game that the AFL game would be shown in entirety as soon as the baseball game was over. |

| I didn't expect them to cut away from the CWS game to go to the Rush/Crush game, however, couldn't they have put the AFL game on a different AFL channel which was covering Baseball tonight and Sportscenter until the CWS game was done? |

| Before we all jump on ESPN for pre-empting the AFL game lets remember EVERY single afl game has gone over its 2 1/2 hour time slot this year. Even on NBC there were plenty of times golf would get delayed for an AFL game or the local news was pushed back 15-20 mins. I'm sure Nascar fans looking to watch Nascar Live were just as ticked to find an arena game still on as we were when the CWS was still on. |
