Guess the NAL had good reason to dump this team.

(1) This is an atrociously written article. Example:
Quote:
Felder-Ruiz got charged with conspiring to aid and abet the filing of more than 70 false tax returns and four counts of aiding and abetting in the filing of false tax returns, according to the feds.

Someone is being paid to write this poorly. That in and of itself is criminal.

(2) They will either be convicted on all counts or acquitted on all counts. The legal argument will be that these guys thought what they were doing was within some 'loophole' in law that they were exploiting. It'll be the same theoretical loophole, applied in all cases.

If they're convicted and have a half-decent lawyer, they'll appeal this thing to death, getting ultimately a ruling on their guilt as well as the supposed loophole they're citing.

My guess? Conviction on all counts. "The feds" don't bring these types of charges unless they've got someone dead to rights.

(3) The Jersey Flight are going to be grounded. Crashed and burned is more like it. Convicted or acquitted, whatever money these people were putting into their podunk professional football venture is now going to go toward attorney fees. And with AAL only requiring a $30,000 letter of credit (per TargetToad), this team is not only going to fold - it's going to fold almost immediately.

Agree with Mac this article is journalistic malfeasance (a HS journalist writing for the school paper could have better written it). Fraudulent use of educational tax credits? I'm surprise the Feds didn't get them on fraudulent use of the earned income tax credit (a more widespread problem and easier to cover up).
