I think Firebirds is the best name, personally, but what do you think? Agree? Disagree?

I went with the Firebirds also, choosing that would probably help brand recognition a bit.

I voted Firebirds, but if that is off the table I keep coming up with Albany Empire, that sounds like a football team name.

Reminds me of the Spokane Empire.... hopefully, the team lasts far longer than the Spokane team did....

Their Facebook page posted an update with the opportunity to vote for the next team name on the TU's website. The choices:

Albany Phoenix
Albany Fire
Albany Empire
Albany Machine

(I knew I should have written in Fighting Blueberries...)

Fans have been asking on the Facebook page why they couldn't name the team the Firebirds. Every reply has said it was due to legal issues.

It appears that AlbaNY AFL has not submitted trademark requests for any of them yet?

Thay better nail them down ASAP, before someone else does.

There's a chance that they are in the process of securing the trademarks for all four names as we speak... and at least one or two of the other names may get used for other expansion teams in the AFL....

Just wondering, does anyone know who currently owns the name and logo for the Albany Firebirds?

Jerry Kurz owns all of the Albany Firebirds intellectual property.
