 |
|
Just wondering, because I've just recently became a fan of AFL and I don't have a team yet, but I've decided that I will be a fan of the new expansion team so I will be able to be more familar with the history etc of the team as I will be a fan from the start.
Will the new team play in the National Conference Eastern or if its not an Eastern based team will they just re-align the divisions a bit? |

There are a few changes slated for next season,
but nothing in this league is set in stone even after the concrete has dried... _________________

| No one knows, knowing AFL, they'll probably admit a team the moment someone pays the expansion fee, even if it's like 2 weeks before the season begins. |

i think it would make sense to expand in the pacific northwest region. maybe seattle or whatever the name of a city in oregon is. I hope they either rapidly expand to 30 teams or they kind of slow down and try to work on what they have.
I just really really want to be excited about the upcoming 3 weeks and I, honestly, just am not.
For a sabercats fan, we clinched our division and a first round bye. The only thing left to do is clinch home field advantage in the American Conference Championship (and we only wouldnt if we played chicago in it), in which we control our own destiny. That combined with the fact that we play the three teams in the bottom of our division the rest of the way, I think the only thing keepin chicago fighting is that they only have to tie san jose for #1. So there is that, and trust me I enjoy a good race for number one, I just hope chicago holds up their end of the bargain (DOH!)
But, its hard to get excited about which team finishes 3rd from the bottom and makes the playoffs.
I dont like it. I dont like it. I dont like it. Im gonna finish watchin Utah destroy Colorado and be bitter. _________________ I hate 12 of 19 teams in the playoffs, how 'bout you? |

Every single minor league sports expansion thread I've seen (AFL, MLS, NLL, MLL) always seems to mention Seattle, probably because everyone has this picture in the US in their mind and they can't stand it that there's this hole in the top left corner of the map. In my mind, Seattle would make a good market, but it doesn't stand out above any other market except that it's in the northwest. Same thing goes for Portland (that's the name of that city in Oregon btw).
Don't expect a team in Seattle for now because of the huge arena controversy there. Until the Sonics figure out what they're doing, I don't think it's a good idea to use the KeyArena. |

I hope it's a Boston team cause I've been waiting for 13 years now for a team in MA to show up again. I wouldn't mind 3 teams coming into the league next year.(Boston, Seattle, & Pittsburgh) I say Pittsburgh because of the Penguins getting a new arena in a couple of years and going through another year of an odd number of teams is annoying because of the multiple bye weeks it forces. _________________ Bring the AFL to Boston

| Bostons and Seattle are both two places that should get a team. There needs to be a team in the Northwest and Boston could create some good rivalries with other teams in the northeast area. |

I can tell you what Sidelines has said recently...that Grand Rapids is moving to Minnesota I believe. I think his Vegas team might be in serious trouble too. I'm sure he'll be on later to verify his thoughts on this! You, too, can get this info if you go out drinking with the coaching staff after the games!! |

I'm still totally skeptical about these rumors about GR moving to Minnesota, it still seems to be cooked up by a bunch of AFL fans that want GR to move. DeVos is a Grand Rapids man, he helped build the arena and kept the team alive all these years because of his commitment to Grand Rapids. Any other owner and Grand Rapids would have moved a long time ago. |

I don't think San Fransico would get a franchise because they don't have a arena with 12,000-17,000 seat capacity. your best bet is oakland, they have the "Oakland Arena." |

The 49ers owner has the rights to the team in the area and it's either in SF or Sacramento. I'm sure they could use the Oakland Arena but I'm going by what I've read about it. Still doesn't affect the divisions though. _________________ Bring the AFL to Boston

| 2 teams in the Bay Area will not happen. Maybe Sacramento. I still think the Yorks will never excercise the option to own a team. |
