Wascha has a career-high game in the Soul’s last-second win, Powell lead’s the Brigade defense to a two-game lead over second
LAS VEGAS – The Arena Football League has announced that Philadelphia Soul’s wide receiver Aaron Wascha and Baltimore Brigade’s defensive back Joe Powell have been named as the offensive and defensive players of the week for Week 10, respectively.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Wascha (6’3, 205, Michigan State) hauled in 12 receptions for 208 yards and seven touchdowns in the Soul’s nail-biting 75-74 win over the Albany Empire. All were career-game highs for the rookie this season. For 2018, Wascha has recorded 29 receptions for 400 yards and 14 touchdowns.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Powell (6’1, 210, Globe Tech) recorded 4.5 total tackles, one interception, and a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Brigade’s 72-42 win over the Washington Valor. Powell’s interception return caught the eye of SportsCenter and was named the #9 play on SportsCenter’s Top 10. For the season, he has tallied 39.0 total tackles, six pass breakups, nine passes defended, one fumble recovery, and three interceptions with one returned for a touchdown.
