Valor Sign Three-Time League MVP Nick Davila

Quarterback’s resume includes five ArenaBowl appearances, three titles
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Valor announced today the signing of quarterback Nick Davila, whose seven-year Arena Football League career includes three league MVP trophies, three ArenaBowl championships and two ArenaBowl MVP awards.
Davila last played in the AFL in 2016 as a member of the Arizona Rattlers, throwing for 4,198 passing yards and 110 touchdowns, earning a league-record third AFL MVP award and his fifth ArenaBowl appearance. The California native was also named AFL MVP for his performance during the 2011 and 2014 seasons. During the 2014 season, Davila led the league in passing yards (4,778) and passing touchdowns (127) and was named AFL Offensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Arena honors.
“Nick is a winner on and off the field who brings immediate credibility and leadership to our locker room, meeting room, practice field and on game days” Valor Head Coach Dean Cokinos said. “Adding Nick will provide a great opportunity for our younger players to learn how to be a pro and how to give yourself and the team the best chance to compete and win at the highest level.”
Davila is the only starting quarterback in AFL history to win three-straight ArenaBowl titles. He holds ArenaBowl career records for completions (87), passing yards (1,156) and touchdowns (31). Beyond his postseason accolades, Davila ranks in the top 10 in league history in a number of major passing categories, including third all-time in passer rating (123.15), third all-time in completion percentage (67.4), sixth all-time in passing touchdowns (766) and eighth all-time in passing yards (32,616).

Davila spent the 2017 season with the Arizona Rattlers (Indoor Football League) as an assistant coach. Prior to joining the Arena Football League in 2010, Davila played two seasons with the Spokane Shock (af2). During the 2009 af2 season, Davila was named First Team All-af2 and led the Shock to an ArenaCup championship.
Davila played college football at Cincinnati, appearing in 12 career games. During his senior season, he completed 59.3 percent of his passes, throwing for over 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns. He earned Big East Honor Roll and was presented with the Glenn Sample Award for Community Service for his participation in the Locks of Love program his senior year.
The 2018 Valor regular season, presented by MedStar Health, kicks off with the Valor’s matchup against the Baltimore Brigade on Fri., April 13 at 7 p.m. at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD. The Valor’s home opener is set for Week 2, when Washington welcomes the Albany Empire, playing in their inaugural season, to Capital One Arena on Sat., April 21 at 7 p.m.
