Baltimore's Carden Named Rookie of the Year

 Carden leads the Brigade to a playoff appearance and surpasses 3,000 yard passing mark in his rookie year

LAS VEGAS – The Arena Football League has announced that Baltimore Brigade quarterback Shane Carden has been named 2017 AFL Rookie of the Year. After a season that saw Carden among the top quarterbacks in the league, he becomes the first Rookie of the Year on an expansion team since 2001.

Carden (6’2”, 220, East Carolina) started in 12 of 13 games played for the Brigade this season and completed 271-of-423 passes for 3,169 yards and 63 touchdowns, all marks good for 3rd in the AFL this season. He became the first rookie quarterback since 2011 to throw for over 3,000 yards. The East Carolina product led the Brigade in rushing with 91 yards on 33 attempts and eight rushing touchdowns.
