WASHINGTON, DC - Two critical Special Teams plays cost the Washington Valor a chance to beat the Philadelphia Soul on Saturday at the Verizon Center in Washington DC. The Soul, who are the Defending Champs held off a young Washington Valor team 48-47 in front of 9,873 fans.  The Valor offense was without their top 2 quarterbacks.

“The injuries that we’ve been having, we lost 2 quarterbacks in one week, lost 2 centers, lost 2 receivers so that was pretty much almost a new offense playing tonight for the first time together so it was a pretty good effort” said head coach Dean Cokinos after the game.

Sean Brackett had a great game for the Valor going 26-44 for 231 yards and 5 touchdowns, 4 of them to Greg Carr.

Sean Brackett on his connection with Greg Carr during the game “Greg’s a freak, Greg’s like throwing to Lebron (James) out there.  So every time you see Greg one on one you know it’s a good matchup so the way they were playing it we had a lot of one on one matchups outside so we took advantage of that and he made some great plays, great catches and that’s what he does, he’s a great player. So put the ball in his hands and let him do what he does.”

For undefeated Philadephia, Dan Raudabaugh had 5 touchdowns while only throwing 22 passes with 10 of those being completed.  That’s an incredible stat!

A missed field goal and botched field goal snapped the Valor’s chances of upsetting the undefeated Philadelphia Soul.  It would’ve been one of the biggest wins in franchise history and could’ve given them momentum heading into next weeks game against the Cleveland Gladiators
