Al Phillips Returns To Tampa Bay

 Storm acquires seven-year veteran defensive back Al Phillips

TAMPA BAY
– The Tampa Bay Storm is pleased to announce that defensive back Al Phillips has rejoined the Storm.

“Al is a veteran player that understands the game of arena football,” said Storm vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch. “We are happy that he is back with the team and we are looking forward to his leadership on and off the field.”

Phillips (5-foot-11, 190 lbs., Wagner) rejoins the Storm after spending the 2016 season with the National Conference champion, Arizona Rattlers. The seven-year veteran began his first stint with the Storm in 2015 and quickly became the leader of the defensive backfield. Phillips had a stellar 2015 season, leading the team with 107.0 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, three interceptions, a forced fumble and a single-season franchise record 39 pass breakups.

The Hialeah native began his professional career in 2010 with the Spokane Shock. He would also spend time with the Milwaukee Iron and Utah Blaze. For his career, Phillips has recorded 424.5 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 15 interceptions, 95 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

The team reassigned wide receiver Tyrone Goard.
