JANUARY 9, 2017 - The Cleveland Gladiators, presented by Unique Home Solutions, of the Arena Football League were assigned five-time All-Arena DB Rayshaun Kizer on Monday, the team announced.

Kizer, 31, will enter his eighth season in the AFL and joins the Gladiators secondary after spending the bulk of the previous two seasons with the LA KISS.

“It feels great to sign with my hometown team the Cleveland Gladiators,” said Kizer. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play at home in front of my family and friends as well as all of the Cleveland fans. I am thrilled to be a part of a great organization and look forward to getting things going this season.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Kizer has totaled 524 tackles, 140 pass break-ups, 62 interceptions, seven forced fumbles, and 11 total defensive touchdowns.

“To say I'm excited to sign a player of Rayshaun's caliber is an understatement,” said Gladiators Head Coach Ron Selesky. “The fact he is a Cleveland native makes it much more significant. Rayshaun will have a positive impact for us as a player, leader of men, and in the community. He will be a big building block of our defense and I can't wait to start working with him."

At 5’10”, 190 lbs. the veteran defensive back brings significant experience to Cleveland’s defense, having spent additional time with the New Orleans VooDoo, Arizona Rattlers, Philadelphia Soul and Orlando Predators over the course of his indoor career.

Kizer is a graduate of Walsh University where he recorded 14 interceptions for the Cavaliers, returning five of those for touchdowns.

A northeast Ohio native, Kizer is originally from Euclid, OH.
