Thunder Acquire OL Deveric Gallington

Friday November 20, 2015

PORTLAND – The Portland Thunder are pleased to announce the assignment of veteran offensive lineman Deveric Gallington.

Gallington (6-3, 330, Texas Tech) will enter his third season of AFL play with the Thunder in 2016, having been a multipurpose member of the Spokane Shock’s offensive line for the last two seasons.

“Deveric had a great year in 2015, and he’s looking to build on that,” stated Thunder head coach Andy Olson. “He has the ability to play all four positions, which makes him invaluable on an offensive line. He’s a great addition to our team.”

Gallington is the fifth acquisition made on the Thunder’s offensive front this offseason, alongside rookies Rico Forbes and Darius Savage, veteran Mark Jackson and returning center and team captain John Collins.

Galington featured in 22 games during his time in eastern Washington, making 19 starts at right guard for the former AFL Shock from 2014 to 2015. He also saw time at left guard, center, and fullback. The former Texas Tech Red Raider made 38 consecutive starts from 47 appearances at the university from 2009 to 2012. In 2012, Gallington was part of the offensive line that helped Red Raider running backs rush for 1,674 yards during the regular season, the most by a Texas Tech offense since 1998 (2,219).

The North Richland Hills, TX native was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2013 by the Oakland Raiders, and has also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals.
