Soul Welcome VooDoo To Town On Sunday

By Matt Leon

It is the final home game of the regular season for the Philadelphia Soul on Sunday as they welcome the New Orleans VooDoo to town.

Philadelphia is 13-3 and coming off its second and final bye week of the season.

"We needed it," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "Actually we need another week, we're still pretty beat up. It's kind of a weird deal with we've got so many late injuries, none of them serious, but some we may need to sit some guys coming into this week."

Philadelphia has clinched both the Eastern Division title and the best record in the American Conference. New Orleans is playing out the string at 3-12-1, but Dolezel says they'll come into the Center with nothing to lose and that makes them dangerous.

"It does," Dolezel says. "And with us having everything pretty much sewn up on this side, we've just got to keep the young guys heading in the right direction, the vets, keeping them in the right direction, and go out and execute."

This will be the third and final meeting between these two teams this year. Philadelphia won the first two, grabbing a 55-42 decision in New Orleans on April 26th and then winning 62-41 at the Center on June 6th.

Dolezel talks about the keys to completing a sweep of the season series.

"Getting after (Adam) Kennedy, their quarterback, that's a big part of it," Dolezel says. "He's a big guy, strong, he stays in there and takes hits. He's a good young quarterback. And obviously always protecting (Soul quarterback) Dan (Raudabaugh). If we can keep Dan upright and we just play catch, then we should score a lot of points."

Philadelphia and New Orleans will kickoff at 4:00pm on Sunday.
