Tuesday December 23, 2014

Veteran was team's leading receiver in 2014

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced Tuesday that wide receiver Jomo Wilson has returned to the team, as the veteran has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on a one-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 31-year-old Wilson (6’0”, 205) will enter his fourth season with the Sharks and sixth overall campaign in the Arena Football League. Most recently, Wilson rejoined the Sharks via a trade with the San Antonio Talons in the early part of the 2014 season. Starting each of the Sharks’ final 14 games of the year, Wilson led the team with 92 receptions for 1,104 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also notched a rushing touchdown and recovered a fumble for a score. Counting his four games with the Talons, Wilson racked up 103 catches, 1,251 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2014.

Wilson spent two-plus seasons with the Talons, playing in San Antonio in 2012, 2013 and the beginning of 2014. In 2012, Wilson racked up 83 receptions for team-leading totals of 1,284 yards and 36 touchdowns despite playing in just 13 of the Talons’ 18 games. Las season, Wilson led San Antonio in every major receiving category, recording 1,206 yards and 24 touchdowns on his 98 receptions.

Prior to his time in San Antonio, Wilson began his AFL career with the Sharks, spending the 2010 and 2011 seasons in Jacksonville. Wilson enjoyed a career year in 2011 as a key cog in Jacksonville’s ArenaBowl-winning squad, racking up team-high totals of 131 catches for 1,737 yards and 44 touchdowns. Wilson still holds the single-season franchise records in the latter two categories. During Jacksonville’s three-game run to the ArenaBowl title, Wilson led the Sharks with 22 receptions for 278 yards.

As a rookie in 2010, Wilson quickly became an integral part of Jacksonville’s receiving corps during the franchise’s inaugural season. As a rookie, Wilson finished as the Sharks’ second leading receiver, totaling 81 receptions for 964 yards and 19 touchdowns.

A native of Stockton, California, Wilson finished his collegiate career at Eastern Oregon.
