Tampa Bay acquires defensive lineman Ryne Giddins

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired defensive lineman Ryne Giddins, announced Storm vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.

“Ryne is a strong competitor that has the ability to succeed in the Arena Football League,” said Gooch. “He is a local talent which is one of the attributes we look for when we acquire players. He should excel with the opportunity to play for his hometown team.”

Giddins (6-foot-3, 245 lbs., South Florida) a local product from Armwood H.S. (Seffner, FL) enters his first season in the Arena Football League with the Storm. The former South Florida standout played four seasons with the Bulls, starting in 23-of-51 games played. For his collegiate career he tallied 118 total tackles, and 32 tackles for loss including 19.5 sacks. Giddins would also record four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception. His performance during his junior season (2012) earned him First-Team All-Big East honors.

Giddins began his professional career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League when he signed with the team in 2014 as an undrafted rookie free agent.

The team reassigned rookie defensive lineman Devin Jones.
