Predators Add Standout Pass Rusher Jeremy Geathers

Monday October 27, 2014

ORLANDO – The Orlando Predators have agreed to terms with veteran defensive end Jeremy Geathers, the franchise has announced. Geathers has spent the past three years with the Spokane Shock, where last season, he helped the franchise produce a league-leading 40 sacks.

“Jeremy has proven himself to be a dynamic pass rusher in this league,” said Head Coach Rob Keefe. “He is relentless in his pursuit of the quarterback and raises the level of play of all of those around him.”

Now entering his sixth season in the Arena Football League, Geathers (6-3, 255, UNLV) registered 21.5 total tackles with five sacks as a member of the Shock in 2014. He added seven tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two quarterback hurries, one pass breakup and a fumble recovery.

Geathers entered the AFL as a rookie with Spokane in 2010, where he helped the team win ArenaBowl XXIII while playing under then-head coach Rob Keefe. Geathers was named Defensive Player of the Game in ArenaBowl XXIII after notching four tackles, one sack and a forced fumble in a 69-57 victory over Tampa Bay.

The follow season, Geathers joined the Chicago Rush and played in five games for the team, as he spent part of the year with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. He returned to the Shock in 2012 and posted 6.5 sacks in just 11 games.

Jeremy is the son of former NFL defensive lineman James “Jumpy” Geathers and has three cousins in the NFL: Cincinnati Bengals DE Robert Geathers, San Diego Chargers DT Kwame Geathers and Washington Redskins DE Clifton Geathers.
