Philadelphia to Celebrate 10 Seasons in Arena Football League

PHILADELPHIA (October 8, 2014) – In honor of the organization’s 10th season in the Arena Football League, the Philadelphia Soul proudly release their “10 Seasons” logo for the 2015 season. The logo will primarily be used on different marketing and promotional items, as well as, being incorporated into the player uniform.

“Nobody can question the impact our organization has had on this city since our start in 2004,” said Soul Chief Operating Officer, John Adams. “We have been through a lot; from bringing the city a world championship in 2008, to building houses for the underprivileged and numerous other community engagements to surviving the league suspension of operations in 2009. The future is bright for the Soul and the Arena Football League and I am looking forward to many more years of Soul football delivering championships and continuing our significant support of the community.”

The franchise was established in 2004 when a group led by then co-majority owners Jon Bon Jovi and Craig Spencer along with minority owners Richie Sambora, ESPN analyst and former Philadelphia Eagles QB, Ron Jaworski, Steve Perna and Leo Carlin, Jr. The Soul began play in February 2004, and played its home games at the Wells Fargo Center (then known as the Wachovia Center).

The name “Soul” refers to the Philadelphia soul music genre, as the team was owned in part by musician Jon Bon Jovi. The team won the ArenaBowl championship in 2008 and reached the title game as American Conference Champions in 20012 and 2013.

The current ownership group includes: co-majority owners Craig Spencer and Ron Jaworski, as well as, Pete Ciarrocchi, Cosmo DeNicola, Marty Judge and New Orleans Saints receiver Marques Colston.

“MEET MARQUES COLSTON” Event is scheduled for Friday, October 10 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at Chickie’s & Pete’s in South Philadelphia. The event is open to the public as the Soul officially welcome Marques to the Soul family. Media availability will follow official welcome of the new co-owner.
