PHILADELPHIA (September 27, 2010) – The 2008 ArenaBowl champion Philadelphia Soul announce the signing of 2010 First Team All-Arena performer, Donovan Morgan (6’3, 220, Pearl River C.C.) for the 2011 season. Morgan finished the 2010 season with 123 catches for 1,707 yards and 52 touchdowns with the Tulsa Talons. His 52 receiving touchdowns were the best in the AFL in 2010.

“Donovan is coming off a monster season,” said Philadelphia Soul head coach Mike Hohensee. “He continues to improve his game and now is setting the standard for receivers in the Arena Football League. He is a player that will provide leadership through his play on the field and his strong work ethic. He is an exciting player to watch and will quickly become a fan favorite in Philly.”

In 2008, Morgan was named AFL Rookie of the Year for the Hohensee-coached Chicago Rush and recorded 111 receptions for 1,281 yards and 24 touchdowns. That season, he also rushed 11 times for 34 yards and one touchdown. In 2005, while with the af2’s Tulsa Talons, he set a league record for touchdown receptions (54), total touchdowns (57) and points scored in a season (346). He was the first player in af2 history to break the 300-point barrier.

“After considering many offers from around the league, my family and I believe that Philadelphia is the best fit for me,” said Morgan. “The chance to reunite with Coach Hohensee and become a member of a championship-caliber organization is truly a blessing. I look forward to the challenge of helping lead this team back to the championship and bringing the title back to Philadelphia.”
