Blaze sign QB Tommy Grady

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Blaze are pleased to announcing the signing of QB Tommy Grady (6-7, 250, Utah) for the 2011 season. Grady, a former University of Utah quarterback is the first signing by the Blaze during the free agency period.

Grady joins to Blaze after spending the 2010 season with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz where he completed 363-of-597 passes for 4,307 yards, 81 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He spent the previous year with the Yard Dawgz, who were previously a part of the af2, where Grady started the in the final two regular season games and completed 56 passes for 687 yards and 13 touchdowns, setting a single game record for the team in completions (31) and pass attempts (44).

“Bringing in a player of Tommy’s caliber is essential to the Blaze moving up to being a top tier team in the AFL,” said Head Coach Ron James. “He’s truly one of the rising starts in the AFL and we are looking forward to his production in our uniform next year.”

Grady finished up his collegiate career at Utah, after transferring from the University of Oklahoma. In 2005, Grady practiced but was unable to play due to NCAA transfer rules. The following year, Grady saw action in seven games, completing 7-of-14 passes for 102 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. As a senior, Grady finished the season completing 58-of-115 passes for 681 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. At Oklahoma, he was the backup for QB Jason White. He played in five games in 2004 and completed 12-of-14 passes for 63 yards and one touchdown.
