Greisen, Forse earn Week 1 AFL honors

MILWAUKEE – The Arena Football League announced today that Milwaukee Iron quarterback Chris Greisen was named the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week while wide receiver Nate Forse was named the JLS Ironman of the Week.

Greisen (6-3, 220, NW Missouri State) played a nearly flawless game this weekend, when the Milwaukee Iron defeated last season’s arenafootball2 ArenaCup champion Spokane Shock. Greisen made 30 of his 36 passing attempts, including 23 straight completions at one point, good for an 83% completion percentage and no interceptions. He found the reliable hands of three separate receivers throughout the evening, including this week’s Ironman of the Week, Nate Forse. The Greisen-led offense exploded for three touchdowns in the last 90 seconds before halftime, essentially dooming the Shock’s comeback chances. His nine touchdown passes topped the league for the week, as did his 144.1 quarterback rating.

NATE FORSE, JLS IRONMAN OF THE WEEK

Forse (6-4, 220, California PA) made a big impact for the victorious Milwaukee Iron this week, putting in serious effort on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Forse caught 11 passes for 124 yards, racking up three touchdowns in the process. He was also the second leading scorer for Milwaukee on the night. While he was not credited for any defensive statistics, Forse still made his presence know. Forse played all but a handful of plays all game, both offensively as a wide receiver, defensively as a jack linebacker and also on special teams, helping to propel the Iron to a 74-62 victory at Spokane on Friday night.

The Milwaukee Iron have ascended to the highest level of Arena Football as a member of the Arena Football League. Downtown Milwaukee and the Bradley Center will come alive as the Iron play host to legendary AFL teams such as the Iowa Barnstormers, Tampa Bay Storm, Arizona Rattlers, Chicago Rush, Utah Blaze, Cleveland Gladiators, Orlando Predators and more.
