Bob McMillen named Chicago Rush Assistant Head Coach

Thursday January 28, 2010

January 28, 2010 – Chicago Rush head coach Mike Hohensee has begun filling out his coaching staff, hiring former Arena Football great Bob McMillen as his assistant head coach and line coach, the team announced today. In addition, Hohensee named Troy Biladeau (Bill-a-due) as the team’s defensive coordinator.

“I can’t think of a better way to build a staff than by adding Bob McMillen,” said Hohensee. “He has an outstanding knowledge of Arena Football, having played the game as well as anyone for 13 years. In addition, his ability to teach the game to younger players will make him an asset to my staff.

“Troy has a great defensive mind and I am looking forward to working with him to build a defense that Rush fans can be proud of.”

McMillen’s hiring reunites him with the Rush, the franchise for which he played from 2003 to 2007. Upon his retirement following the 2007 season, McMillen joined Chicago’s coaching staff as the team’s fullbacks/linebackers coach.

An Elmhurst native, McMillen played college football at Illinois Benedictine before playing 13 seasons in the Arena Football League (1995-2007) with Arizona, San Jose and Chicago. In 2006, as part of the league’s celebration of its 20th season, McMillen was voted one of the 20 Greatest Players in the history of the Arena Football League.

“I’m excited to be back,” said McMillen. “It has been a long year off and I can’t wait to get working on helping build the Rush into a championship contender again.”

Biladeau comes to Chicago after spending the 2008 and 2009 seasons as the head coach of the af2’s Quad City Steemwheelers. Prior to his stint as a head coach, Biladeau served as a defensive coordinator in af2 from 2001-2007.

Chicago Rush season and group tickets are on sale now, with season ticket prices beginning as low as $64 per ticket. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Rush office at (847) 882-9400 or visiting the team’s Web site at www.arenarush.com. Fans who held season tickets to the previous Rush team will be given the opportunity to reserve their same season ticket locations, but must call the office as soon as possible to secure those seats.
