QB Jon Beutjer signed to practice squad
TAMPA – The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have signed quarterback Jon Beutjer to the practice squad, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced. Beutjer will fill in void left after quarterback Mitch Tanney was claimed off of the practice squad by the Philadelphia Soul.
Beutjer. 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, will join the Storm as the third-string quarterback. He recently earned a spot on Team Michigan in the now defunct All-America Football League. Prior to that Beutjer last played with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League.
The Wheaton, Illinois native played three seasons (2002-04) for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini after playing with the University of Iowa Hawkeyes as a freshman in 2000. He started 25 of 35 career games played between the two schools and completed 539 of his 897 pass attempts for 6,031 yards and 45 touchdowns. Buetjer led the Big Ten in passing in 2002 with 2,511 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football action returns Saturday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD as the five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm visit Philadelphia to take on the Soul. The Storm look to get back on track and take out their National Conference Rival as the Soul want to prove they are not a one man show as quarterback Tony Graziani recovers from a knee injury.
