Desperados Place Dolezel on Injured Reserve
Thursday March 6, 2008
The Dallas Desperados placed QB Clint Dolezel (6-5, 205) on the Reserve/Injured List today and activated DL Daleroy Stewart (6-4, 327) from the Reserve/Left Squad List.
With Dolezel being placed on the Injured/Reserve List today, he must remain there for a league-mandated four weeks before becoming eligible to return to the active roster on April 5 against the Cleveland Gladiators. He suffered an injured shoulder in the fourth quarter of Dallas’s 51-41 win last week at Georgia.
The 13-year veteran is the AFL’s all-time passing touchdown leader (872) and ranks second all-time in attempts (5,344), completions (3,521), and passing yards (41,811).
Entering his third season with the Desperados, he has compiled a 29-4 regular season record as a starter and is the club’s all-time leading passer in completions (777), attempts (1,143), yards (9,381) and passing touchdowns (219). Prior to this injury, Dolezel had started 43 consecutive games and has missed only seven career games due to injury.
Stewart will take Dolezel’s spot on the active roster. Stewart finished the 2007 season with 10.5 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 13 games played with 12 starts at nose tackle.
The Dallas Desperados host the Columbus Destroyers in the team’s home-opener on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. (CST) at the American Airlines Center.
