Vipers announce signings

Tuesday November 13, 2007

Huntsville, AL- The Tennessee Valley Vipers have announced that they have signed quarterback Tony Colston and former Auburn receiver Marcel Willis for the 2008 AF2 season.

Colston, who previously played for the Vipers in 2006 before playing for the IFL’s Cen Tex Barracudas, spent last season with the Vipers, playing in ten games and passing for 941 yards and 16 touchdowns. The product of Tusculum College missed seven games last season due to a dislocated elbow on this non-throwing arm. “Tony had an outstanding college career and has all the attributes of a quarterback. He is a leader and has the potential, he just needs to learn the arena game a little better,” said Vipers head coach Dean Cokinos.

Willis, who played with the Auburn Tigers from 1999-2002, led the Tigers in receptions (31) and receiving yards (417) in 2002, and helped the Tigers to a 9-4 record and a victory over Penn State in the Capital One Bowl. The Vipers are also expected to sign  OL/DL Calvin Ousby in the next few days. Ousby, who played in limited action last season for the Vipers, played his collegiate football at Jackson State University.
