First QBs To Account For 11 TDs Each In Same Game
NEW YORK – Saturday night’s game between the Dallas Desperados and New Orleans VooDoo, won 80-79 by Dallas, was the first in AFL history in which both quarterbacks accounted for 11 touchdowns each.
In a losing effort, VooDoo QB STEVE BELLISARI threw nine touchdown passes and rushed for two more. For the third time in his career, Desperados QB CLINT DOLEZEL tied the League’s single-game passing TD record by throwing for 11 scores. It was the first time in League’s 21-season history that two quarterbacks each accounted for 11 touchdowns in the same game.
The record-setting performances punctuated a thrilling game that concluded when Bellisari was sacked by Desperados DL COLSTON WEATHERINGTON while attempting to convert a game-winning two-point conversion with no time remaining in the game.
