Transactions Continue for Lubbock Renegades

LUBBOCK, TX: April 27, 2007 – The inaugural Lubbock Renegades of the arenafootball2 continued to make roster moves in preparation for their Saturday night contest against the Texas Copperheads, as they have been assigned wide receivers Chris Highshaw, John King, and lineman Moqut Ruffins.  To make roomer for the roster additions, the Renegades have placed lineman Jerome Flowers and wide receiver Patrick Williams on re-assignment.

Highshaw is a 6’5” 200-pound native of Monroe, Louisiana playing in his third season of arena football.  After closing out a college tenure at Grambling, Highshaw turned pro in the af2 with the Wichita Stealth in 2004. He had 171 receiving yards on 15 receptions on offense and he contributed defensively with a pair of interceptions.  In 2005, he split the season with San Diego and Bossier-Shreveport and combined for 375 receiving yards on 23 catches on offense and had six tackles on defense.  This season, Highshaw originally signed with Bossier-Shreveport but was re-assigned and was picked up by the Texas Copperheads.  Highshaw appeared in one game this season with the Copperheads and he registered four tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery.  His overall af2 totals include 546 receiving yards on 38 receptions with 9 touchdowns on offense, and 37 tackles (27 solo), three interceptions and 2.5 sacks defensively in 18 games played.

King is a product of Northeastern State University in Oklahoma and a native of Oklahoma City joining the Renegades for his second season of arena football.  The 6’2” 200-pound receiver played with the Amarillo Dusters last season.  In six games, King had two carries for 12 yards rushing, 17 receptions for 248 yards and a touchdown on offense.  King produced 5 tackles, a forced fumble and fumble recovery on defense.  

Moqut (mo-keet) Ruffins joins the Renegades after opening up the season with the Laredo Lobos of the af2.  The 6’5” 278-pound lineman from Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey was a standout at Louisiana Tech University.  He was a 2005 All-Conference selection in the WAC with 38 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, three sacks, fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.  In 2006, he spent time with a Lakeland, Florida based indoor football team.  He appeared in one game with Laredo this season.

Flowers and Williams each leave the Renegades with one game played.  Flowers had a tackle, while Williams had six catches for 122 yards in the opening game at Amarillo.

REMINDER:  This Saturday’s game against Texas had originally been scheduled for Sunday, so as a reminder, this game is set for this Saturday.  The game originally scheduled for May 6th has also been changed to Saturday May 5th against Amarillo.  Ticket prices were also adjusted for the remainder of the season.  Upper level endzone seating has been reduced to $5 and all advertised prices do include service charges and taxes.  Best Buy will also provide a DVD player to a lucky fan after every Renegades touchdown.
