Three Year Extension Keeps Coach In Philly Through 2021
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia Soul announced today that they have agreed to a three-year extension with Head Coach Clint Dolezel, keeping him with the team through the 2021 season. Per team policy, the financial terms were not disclosed. Dolezel has led the Soul to a playoff appearance in each of his first six seasons as head coach, including four trips to the ArenaBowl that resulted in back-to-back championships in ArenaBowl XXIX and ArenaBowl XXX. Dolezel has twice been named Head Coach of the Year (2015, 2016) and boasts a 77-32 overall record as head coach of the Soul.
“I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this organization and am thankful to our ownership group for their continued trust and belief in me,” said Dolezel.
After a Hall of Fame playing career that spanned 13 seasons, included an ArenaBowl XV championship and multiple All-Arena selections, Dolezel was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2012 and was selected as the eighth best player in league history by the Silver Anniversary committee. He is still among the all-time leaders in passing yards, attempts, completions and touchdowns. His first AFL head coaching job came in 2011 with the Dallas Vigilantes as he led the team to the playoffs. In 2012, Dolezel joined the Soul coaching staff as Offensive Coordinator, igniting an offensive unit that averaged a league-high 68.2 points per game. He was promoted to head coach the following season.
“Clint is just a flat-out winner,” said owner Ron Jaworski. “As both a player and a coach, he’s proven to be the best in the business and we’re excited about his continued leadership of our franchise.”
