Soul look to go 3-0 against the Valor in Week 9

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia Soul (4-3) are on home turf to face the Washington Valor (0-7) at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, June 10th with kickoff at 4:00 p.m. The Soul are 2-0 against the Valor in 2018 and this Sunday marks the second time they’ll face the Valor at home this season.

The main matchup to watch this week will be between the Valor’s newest starting Quarterback, Arvell Nelson, and Soul Quarterback Greg McGhee. Nelson totaled 25 completions on 44 attempts for 345 yards, two interceptions and seven touchdowns last week in his first start for the Valor. As for the Soul, McGhee has continued to show extreme versatility and athleticism as he ranks second in the league in rushing yards (88) and is in a three-way tie for first in rushing touchdowns (4). Since his debut in Week 6, McGhee has totaled 31 completions on 54 attempts for 401 yards, three interceptions and nine touchdowns. He received AFL Offensive Player of the Week honors in Week 7 and game MVP in Week 8. On the Valor roster, also watch WR Reggie Gray, who totaled eight receptions for 127 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s game.

On the Soul side, opposing quarterbacks should beware of DL Jake Metz who has totaled 2.5 sacks in just three games. He is now third in the league in sacks, behind Soul DL Robert Hayes who has 3.5. Also watch DB James Romain who has totaled 37 tackles and is tied for the league lead in interceptions with three.

“With the weekend off the team was able to catch up on film and prepare for this weekend,” said Head Coach Clint Dolezel. “We’re ready to get back in front of our local fans and get another win at home.”
