Day Four Signings Include One Veteran and One AFL Rookie

ALBANY- The Albany Empire announce that two additional players have been assigned to the team roster on the fourth day of free agency. Per League and team rules, terms are not disclosed. Of the two players assigned, one is a league veteran. The free agency signing period for the Arena Football League began at 7 a.m. on Monday March 19.

“It’s all coming together so fast, it’s exciting!” Said Rob Keefe, Head Coach of the Albany Empire. “Players are starting to arrive in Albany, we will start meetings soon, and then camp starts just next week! The coaching staff has been hard at work to ensure that throughout training camp, we can prepare and put together the best 24-man unit to kick off our inaugural season.”

Jameon Lewis, Wide Receiver

A college teammate of “Bear” Wilson, Jameon Lewis is a multitool football player. He led his high school team to two championships as a quarterback. During his successful collegiate career, Lewis earned special teams and kick returner All-American Honors, set a single game school record with 220 receiving yards, and even showcased his throwing abilities and threw four career touchdown passes. Lewis spent the 2016 season with the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL. After taking 2017 off from football, Lewis is looking forward to making his AFL debut with the Albany Empire and coming to New York State for the first time.

Kenny Spencer, Kicker

Kenny Spencer has made his way all over the country playing Arena Football. Born in Los Angeles, Spencer attended Northern Alabama University. During his tenure at NAU, Spencer was named All-Conference twice. After graduating, Spencer spent some time with the Alabama Hammers in the SIFL in the team’s inaugural season. In 2012, Spencer was assigned to the Spokane Shock, where he earned the honors of rookie kicker of the year. He then bounced around from the New Orleans Voodoo, LA Kiss, and Arizona Rattlers before receiving a minicamp invite with the Detroit Lions.
