 Mayor Kenney Declares Wednesday “Philadelphia Soul World Champions Day”

PHILADELPHIA-- The Philadelphia Soul are pleased to announce that there will be a championship celebration rally at the City Hall courtyard at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30. Following the rally, which is expected to last 45 minutes, the team will head to Chickie’s and Pete’s in South Philly to continue the celebration.

The Soul defeated the Tampa Bay Storm 44-40 on Saturday night in ArenaBowl XXX to claim their third and back-to-back Arena Football League World Championships.

“For the second consecutive year, the Soul have brought the AFL Championship home to Philadelphia, and we are pleased to recognize this day and their incredible achievement,” said Mayor Kenney. “I declare Wednesday, August 30 2017, ‘Philadelphia Soul World Champions Day’ in Philadelphia and hope that everybody comes out to City Hall at noon to celebrate the Soul for making our city proud.”

Fans will be joined by Philadelphia Soul ownership group, including former Philadelphia Eagle Ron Jaworski, the Soul coaching staff, players, dance team and front office staff. Championship merchandise will be available for sale. A food truck will be on-site for food and beverage purchase.

At Chickie’s and Pete’s, the Soul ownership group, coaching staff, players, dance team and front office staff will be in attendance. The event will be open to the public and begin at 2 p.m. and drink specials will be available.
