AFL Awards Week 14 Players of the Week

 Teammates Carden and Sonie help their team defeat the previously unbeaten Philadelphia Soul

LAS VEGAS – The Arena Football League has announced that Baltimore Brigade quarterback Shane Carden and Brigade defensive back Varmah Sonie have been named the offensive and defensive players of the week for Week 14, respectively.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Carden (6’2”, 210, East Carolina) threw for five touchdowns, 271 yards and added a rushing touchdown as the Baltimore Brigade beat the previously unbeaten Philadelphia Soul, 49-42, last Saturday. He becomes only the seventh rookie QB since 2000 to defeat a defending ArenaBowl champion.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sonie (5’9”, 180, Northern Iowa) made 8.0 tackles against Philadelphia, but his best contribution was in pass coverage. He was able to cover Soul wide receivers when the game was on the line and came away with a key interception in the 4th quarter.
