Former Towson Tiger to make AFL debut this weekend vs. Cleveland
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Valor announced today the signing of kicker Sam Hurwitz, who will make his AFL debut this Sat., June 3 at 7 p.m. at Verizon Center when the team takes on the Cleveland Gladiators.
"This is a great opportunity for Sam and our team,” said Valor Head Coach Dean Cokinos. “Sam impressed us with his leg strength and accuracy during an October workout and throughout training camp. It’s exciting to get a chance to work with a local kicker.”
Hurwitz grew up in Bethesda, Maryland and attended Towson University, where he played after transferring from the University of Arizona. During the 2015 season with Towson, Hurwitz converted 11-13 field goal attempts, including a long of 46 yards and 25-29 extra point attempts.
