The play of Carden and Victorian give Brigade their second victory in 2017
LAS VEGAS – The Arena Football League has announced that Baltimore Brigade quarterback Shane Carden and Brigade defensive back Josh Victorian have been named the offensive and defensive players of the week for Week 8 respectively.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Carden (6’2”, 210, East Carolina), the rookie quarterback helped the Brigade to a 63-60 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators in Week 8. In a back and forth game, Carden’s stat line was sprinkled with a bit of everything; he completed 21-of-30 passes for 272 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions, added nine rush yards, a rushing score, and scored on a two-point conversion. Indicative of his play on the night, at the end of the first half, Carden would not be denied as he reached the end zone on a one-yard run on second effort with a second left on the clock.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Victorian (5’10”, 190, Louisiana Tech) tied for a team lead with five tackles in the game and a tackle for loss, a stuffed tackle on the league’s leading rusher Cleveland quarterback Arvell Nelson early in the fourth quarter. He also picked off Nelson and returned the intercepted pass for 29 yards at a critical juncture of the game in the fourth quarter that inevitably setup a Brigade go-ahead score.
