Brigade Acquire Thompkins and Boyd from Gladiators

 Baltimore sends future considerations and claim position to Cleveland

BALTIMORE, MD – The Baltimore Brigade announced today the acquisition of WR/KR Brandon Thompkins and QB Shane Boyd from the Cleveland Gladiators in exchange for future considerations and a claim order position.

Thompkins, the AFL’s 2016 Playmaker of the Year and First Team All-Arena wide receiver and kick returner, joins the Brigade in his seventh season of professional play. The Arkansas State alum played briefly in the Canadian Football League with the BC Lions before joining the AFL, where he has spent time with the Spokane Shock, Utah Blaze, Los Angeles KISS, Orlando Predators and Cleveland Gladiators, amassing 515 receptions, 6,398 receiving yards and 131 touchdowns. The 5’10” wideout has also tallied 13 career rushing touchdowns and 17 career special teams touchdowns. Thompkins has appeared in four games this season, registering 24 receptions, 282 yards and four touchdowns.

Boyd is playing in his sixth AFL season and has appeared in one game for the Gladiators in 2017. The veteran QB has accumulated 3,718 passing yards and 65 touchdowns in stops with five different teams. Boyd played college football for the Kentucky Wildcats, where he appeared in 36 games over the course of four years. Boyd has made additional stops in the National Football League, where he played briefly for the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tennessee Titans – and the Canadian Football League, playing briefly in 2009 for the Montreal Alouettes.
