Steel place WR Colt Lyerla on Inactive Reserve

Sign veteran wide receiver Tyrone Goard
Portland, Ore. – The Portland Steel have placed wide receiver Colt Lyerla on inactive reserve, head coach and general manager Ron James announced today. The former University of Oregon tight end, suffered a shoulder injury early in the game against the Orlando Predators last week.
“The injury is very unfortunate”, said James. “Colt was just learning the speed of the game and picking it up quickly. We will make sure he rehabs the shoulder and we look forward to seeing his progress towards recovery.”
To fill the void on the roster, the Steel have signed two-year veteran wide receiver Tyrone Goard. The Eastern Kentucky product, spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2013 before joining the AFL in 2014 with the Pittsburgh Power coached by James. Last season he played six games for the LA Kiss where he made 17 catches for 149 yards and caught seven touchdowns.
The Steel return to action next Sunday in Philadelphia against the Soul. The game at Wells Fargo Center will kick off at 1 p.m. (PST) and can be heard on 750AM/102.9FM The Game. The game will mark the second straight road contest for Portland before their bye week. The Steel to the friendly confines of Moda Center on May 7 when they take on the LA Kiss.
